This healthy and delicious sourdough pizza crust recipe can’t be beat!

For the pizza lover
I am a lover of all things pizza. Growing up I ate mainly two things, pizza and cereal. When I started trying to watch what was going in my body, I had to really slow down on my pizza consumption. All of the store bought pizzas are filled with so much unnecessary junk so I had to quit eating them.
Then came sourdough. Oh honey, was I determined to make my own nutritious yet delicious sourdough pizza. And that I did.
Is sourdough pizza crust better for you?
Sourdough pizza is better for you for many reasons. It is made from a fermented sourdough starter and it has live bacteria in it that help keep a good balance of bacteria in your gut. Sourdough makes it easier to digest gluten as well. This means your gut isn’t having to work quite as hard to digest.
Pizza crust made from sourdough at home is also going to have a lot fewer ingredients. These ingredients do not include preservatives, dyes or artificial sweeteners. But with this recipe, you are still going to get all of the great flavor you desire in a pizza.

How long does sourdough pizza take to make?
With a lot of sourdough recipes, you will want to allow time for the dough to rise. This sourdough pizza crust recipe can be made right before you are ready to eat or prepared ahead of time and allowed to rise. I prefer to give my crust an hour or two to settle a bit before cooking it but I’ve also been in a pinch before and made it quickly.
Use this sourdough pizza crust recipe for the same day or save it for later. I haven’t tried freezing any crusts just yet but I will let you know if I ever do that, how it turns out.

Mix all dry ingredients together. This step makes sure all of the herbs and spices are well distributed throughout the crust.

Step 2
Add in your liquids and begin mixing.

Step 3
Once everything is mixed together, begin kneading it with your hands. Fold the dough in over and over until you have a nice round ball. If your sourdough crust is too sticky, try adding a table spoon of all purpose flour and kneading it again. Repeat that until the dough is only slightly sticky.

Step 6
Once your dough is rolled out, fold the outer edges in to make your crust. Place your crust on a well greased pan or on top of non-toxic parchment paper.

Step 7
Bake your crust at 400ยบ F for 10 minutes. Add your toppings and bake another 10-15 minutes until crust is golden brown.

How to make your pizza crust crispy
To make your pizza crust crispy, roll your dough out thinner and bake it longer (5-10 minutes extra). You can also use a metal pizza pan with holes in the bottom to get a crispier crust.
